I would also be upset if all that had happened to me. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip with Sunshine Charters and will definitely use them again if I make it back to Marco Island. We had a total or 7 people fishing plus the captain and he told us that they limit it to 9 to keep it from getting crowded and to make sure he can provide good service to every customer. I also really liked that the charter company didn’t cram us into the boat. The Captain fished right along with us, but he was less interested in making his own catch than in finding where the fish were biting and redirecting his customers to those areas. Unfortunately, we developed a real knack for catching fish that were just below keeper size, but even if we couldn’t keep all of them we did continuously bring fish into the boat. Captain Rick also had a lot of advice on technique and placement of casts, all of which led directly to more action. I really appreciated not sitting on a dead spot too long. When it died down at that spot he moved us to another spot, and then again when the bites disappeared from that one. ![]() We started with only a few nibbles, but as soon as the tide changed it picked up in a hurry. ![]() ![]() On the way out to the first fishing spot, Captain Rick warned us that fishing might be slow to start as we waited for a shift in the tide. Tours leave out of Rose Marina which is convenient, easy to find and easy to get in and out of. I took my first chartered trip with Sunshine Tours in April 2013 for a backwater trip with my brother- and sister-in-law.
